I recently bought the tickets that I could find only through ticketmaster. Pretty expensive but there are too many bands and dj’s I’d really like to hear. To mention some: La Roux, Passion Pit, MGMT, Sia, Gossip, Major Lazar, David Guetta, 2 many DJ’s, Gorillaz, Jay-Z,…. and many more.
Can’t wait!

In this movie you can see the classical stereotyped personality of a woman who’s looking for romance, a perfect man, and love. In this case we are focusing on a business woman who develops a strong personality and has a busy working life that don’t allow her much time to focus on her personal life. What is commonly happen in this case is to try to find the perfect match through online networks as the fastest way to see someone’s profile, scan it, and allude that everything that has been written is true. Only after the first date she realizes that a face-to-face conversation and time spent together there are certain things that are not matching at all. Through websites like ‘match.com’ people tend to frame themselves in the best way possible to be seen as perfect as possible, but then realize that you cannot be someone else in order to find someone. 

On the other hand we have the man who is trying to show women that there is no such perfect prince charming ready out there for the perfect life in a castle. Sex especially the one thing that men usually see just as sex and not a ‘making love’ after romance. It is generally proved that men usually are sexually attracted to women for their looks and smell. The rules of attraction are so many that they gets complicated especially when they are unconscious and we are not aware when they are happening. Anyway we can say that, a part from this, there is still a big difference in the expectations of man and women and even if both they are naturally attracted like animals, one side care more about a mental prospective, while the other doesn’t really. 

In the movie we see Mike giving advises to Abby on how to behave and look like in order to get the attention. Some of the things suggested:

-Don’t talk too much while watching a baseball match

-A dress should be tight to let the shape of the hips be seen clearly and the hair should be long and not tided up. Red lipstick obviously!

-Try to look like you’re not so interested at the beginning; pretend you are seeing someone else

-Let the man order for you

There are so many that you might forget about them, but especially they will be not you! 

If you still didn’t see the movie go watch it because, a part from making you reflect on the relationship between man and women, it’s also really funny. And don’t worry… media is always making sure to give the happy ending, so the title doesn’t really care that much.

“L.A. City College suspends most sports programs amid budget cuts”

Los Angeles City College has suspended most of its sports programs for at least a year to deal with a multimillion-dollar budget deficit.

College President Jamillah Moore told trustees Wednesday that the move would save $700,000 and prevent academic programs from being cut.

Women’s volleyball was spared because its season is about to start, but six other programs, including men’s and women’s basketball, are off.

Several former basketball players said the program was a long and storied one that offered a path out of poverty for many inner-city youths.

“I just came back from Croatia, where I spoke to 15 players who told me Los Angeles City changed my life,” said Joseph Taylor, 23. JaQay Carlyle said his athletic experience launched him to UC Davis and on to law school.

This is not something new that we are hearing in these days. In many colleges of California they are dropping the number of classes for an economical issue. Students needed to hurry for the registration to new classes in order to be part of it. Even though we are talking about a variety of subjects, interesting enough is the decision to focalize these cuts in sports classes. 

We all know that some training is important for everyone’s health especially if we are living in a country where fast food is on the ordinary. Think about the Morgan Spurlock’s documentary “Super Size Me”, which talks about his decision to eat for 30 days McDonald only by not walking to much far away to get it. Physically and mentally his body started to collapse to death. 

As personal experience I have been taking volleyball classes at Santa Monica college and to be honest I made more friends there then in the entire city of Los Angeles. This type of team class is the only one where students get to train for something together and so it’s easier to feel and share the same pain or joy. Usually in a regular class like Biology, Sociology, or Psychology there is more competition because everyone has their own thoughts and level of understanding. You can train in a certain way that too but our brain is more complicated to manage. 

Physically we are all able to perceive something: think just about the fact that most of the time media try to persuade us with images and short slogans. Any attractive and colorful sign then automatically manipulates our eyes. We are not enough intelligent to ask about the amount and the type of ingredients that a certain meal is made of.

Anyway, stepping back from our school’s classes issues, why do we believe that a sports class is less valuable then any other classes?! If we are still living is because of our health, if we don’t help it our chance of survival will be less and less. Moreover we are living in a country where interaction within people it starts to become a dream because of technology, so why do we want to increase loneliness and depression around people when we do have a solution for it?

What it’s not all! I just recently discover that the Vatican showed its potentiality through Facebook by creating its own personal page. The Catholic Church is being open minded and started to realize that in order to expand a message through a young community they need to stay “a la mode”. Now the Internet is the fastest and easiest way to diffuse God’s words. 

So: God created humans, humans created technology, and now the word of God needs a human creation to expand his word?! What a freaky intrigue! The new generation is definitely a world of multimedia messages where people stay seated in front of a computer to get information about almost everything: music, art, news, movies, sports, and more.  

Now the church decided to take its spot as well in order to capture the attention of a wide number of people that now a days seems to be found only online. A smart choice, which news definitely captured the attention of millions of people already. 

I wonder how many people will actually be persuaded by this new idea. Will it be successful? Definitely the news is already on. We’ll see.

Trooper has been quitely hidden his secret showing to everyone the seriousness of his commitment for the Army and the aasumption at the eye of everyone to be more straight then a real straight person. Only after that he kindly suggested to senior American officer that his example could make the Army a better place ensuring success. Now the uniformed personnel of the Armed Forces and british serviceman and women have already marched at the Gay Pride in uniform in order to support the fact. It seems that everyone is acting pretty well on an issue that we here sometimes ending tragically.

There is no such thing as the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy in the UK, which allow you to be the real yourself. If no one knows anything it’s just for the fact that most of the gay people enrolled are scared to tell because afraid of prejudices. On the contrary in the US you are not allow to either to be nor to tell. Why the American rules are so strict about the issue? 

This is how we figure that the meaning of a single word can be interpreted widely differently from country to country. Even though the word ‘Pride’ is a very important one as it expresses deep feelings, still it shows controversy and no clear definition. The image that the American Pride is showing right now is just a stereotype of a white macho man interested in dominating the role of straight person too bothered of the idea that love could be shared also within the same gender.

What is then Pride? By dictionary it should be the satisfaction of one’s own achievement, so I guess that this feeling depends from person to person on what he or she believes is right or wrong. What isn’t still clear is then why should we be proud only of our ‘straight’ soldiers even if the people under serious danger in Iraq include also gay people?

What were people thinking when they decided to elect a bodybuilder/actor as Governor of California? By exploring around some videos of the actual Californian Governor I’ve been captured by this video where at a young age Arnold went to Brazil to shoot a documentary. 

What we see is a lot of meat and just few words. As we all know or have heard in a typical Brazilian carnival women movements are really sensual and transgressive, while the outfit it’s limited for the body. In fact it’s easy to see butts, boobies, and belly bottom. Arnold in this seems not to be shy at all especially on the dance floor. 

The “Governor” was young, ready to have fun, and not a real great speaker. Is it right to show this type of videos? Even though there are many videos like this one representing Mr. Schwarzenegger acting with an open shirt that might make people believe that this is not the correct behavior for a politician to be shown in public, anyway his career seems to keep going with people making jokes about it but not really doing anything about it.

If this is a message to say that the new lifestyle within career, hobby, and family is now different and we need to accept all the circumstances then I accept it, but still the credibility is low. Since 2003 we saw him dealing with more “serious stuff” that is pretty appreciated within people in general. The problem remains in all those childish video remained visible to the public that might still influence the value.

Now a day on television we see the new commercial for the new Boost Mobile featuring Danica Patrick. Who’s Danica Patrick? According to her website she is one of the most popular auto racing driver competing with great rewards in the IndyCar Series. A part from that she also does some modeling and now she became the spokeswoman in ads. 

It is really interesting that the Boost Company decided to choose a woman who does have a career that stereotypically should focus men instead. The company definitely wanted to give a specific message to a specific audience.

In the video we see Danica coming with her go-kart to let the crew make some fixing on it. The interesting part is that the people of the crew box are all wearing female clothing, from stretchy top to high heels. Why would they choose to do that?

The lines for the commercial from the representative Danica started by saying “Do you think this is wrong?” With this sentence we presume that the car racer is making her crew wear female clothes on purpose, maybe for a female revenge against those men that still believe that a woman cannot experience a male job. The slogan chosen to sponsor this product is “Unwronged”, meaning it’s not wrong to let your crew dress up like a woman and at the same time saying that it’s not wrong to pay that little. 

The presence of a female rider and the unusual situation involved definitely capture the attention of people and definitely is making them talk about the issue. Women probably feel proud of this and more energized, while men are probably disgusted by it. Saying this we can assume that the audience expected is a female one, even though it might attract also partially a male audience for the fact that the idea of a beautiful woman driving a race car it looks sexy.

There is though a controversy on the overall aspect of this commercial. The idea to put a female driver is genius but the fact that this particular person has been modeling and made sexy photo shoot doesn’t really help the idea of a strong woman. The fact that there is also a partial presence of a male audience is influenced on the fact that probably they know more about her, her career, and consequentially her sexy other job. A woman can watch the commercial but the majority probably didn’t know about Danica, as generally speaking women don’t usually watch sports channels.

Anyway: good job Boost Mobile! You definitely help to open the mind of people.

By just ‘google’ the words ’50 cent’ and ‘nigga’ it came out a wide selection of links… pretty interesting. The song “I Line Niggas” by 50 cent does have a good vibe but definitely a terrible, contradictory, and insignificant lyric. Just have a simple look at the chorus part:

I line niggas, I do my homework

I find niggas, the niggas that did that, they my niggas

You bring that bullshit, ’round my niggas

You die die nigga die

Is it only my point of view or these sentences do not even make sense, grammatically speaking?! For what I can allude, it looks like that this guy is great worker, but apparently some of his colleagues are not. Now, I understand that someone might be angry for this but do you really want a person to die for it?

Moreover: Nigga Obama?

According to the media and general opinion of people the election of President Barack Obama wasn’t really influenced by his skin color. Anyway some African American people are so proud of this that they decided to write a song. Apparently Obama is a ‘Nigga’ too who likes to get drunk and smoke: Check this song:

Bruno with baby

Number 1 in the box office, for the weekend 10/12 of July, is the movie “Bruno” where Baron Sacha Cohen act a gay guy with a big passion for fashion. The movie is produced and written by the actor who wants to decrease gay discrimination, but according to various reviews this way seems not working properly. 

Rashad Robinson from the LA Times believes that sometimes the intent looses its way. He believes that especially some of the scenes created as a result a general “ewwww..” and so loose their credibility. Moreover now ‘Bruno’ will be the joke of the day within the gay community, also toward straight people. This might be fine for a while but can also be disturbing afterwards.

Anyway the message in this discomfort is clear and well proved. Baron Sacha Cohen definitely makes us get a touch of the true meaning of anti-semitism. Especially in the last part of the movie where you can see the ferocity of a crowd of people after they see some homosexuality inside a cage. Ashame!

Bruno try to involve all the issues that gay people go through every day, starting from the attitude, the affinity and action within a gay couple, child adoption, discrimination and abuse from other people, and level of importance compared with other important issues. 

By asking some other opinions it came out that Bruno, compared to the previous movie ‘Borat’, it’ s definitely more shocking. Especially most male people showed disgust and disinterest in talking about the message itself. Why is that? Apparently gay issues are still really felt than a foreigner from Kazakistan who tries to integrate his culture in the american one. 

Bruno it’s definitely a movie that must be seen, even if some transgression makes you feel uncomfortable, because this movie shows a reality that people in general seems not to care that much. Still in the new generation we have cases of harassment and criminality toward gay people. We need to know the truth in order to make some actions.
